Then and Now

Hello everyone,
    My name is joespat75 on most poker sites. I am fairly new to poker with very little experience as a true poker player.
    I started watching poker on TV and thought to myself..sheesh, thats easy. Yea right..LOL. I decided i was going to try my hand at this game since i am pretty good at card games at home. I joined Betzip which is now Pureplay. When i tell you I was the biggest donk on that site, Im not kidding. I would call anything with any two cards in the first rounds. Then i met an online player who gave me a few tips on raising not just callling. I was still raising with any two cards. It didnt matter if I had 2 4 os or AA, I was raising before the flop. I did get very lucky a few times but I think back on those times and say to myself..wow, I could have really won big.
    After betzip/pureplay, I joined Spadeclub and continued to do the same plays the same way and i was failing miserably. Then one night, i decided to change my play a little. I decided to only play prs or A rag unless i got a feeling about a hand. I won only enough to pay my membership for 10 mos of my yr there.
    One night at spadeclub at the 1k table, I met jenkins73p. He led me to a site called beyondthefelt.org. I have met many wonderful people there..people that know how to play the game called poker. They started teaching me and urging me on. I also met someone I will call professor..he knows who he is. He has given me tips and strategies that I use today in my games. It has not brought me tons of money, but it has made me a better player and I have increased my bankroll. I cant say i am a skilled player yet because i have not learned all the ins and out of the game. I have learned to be patient and wait for a hand. I have learned how to fold and even how to bluff a time or two. I have even learned how to make the appropriate raise when i do have a hand.
    If you have found your way to this site and have not started reading tips and strategies on the game, I suggest you start and start now. Read every bit of information on this site. I will garauntee that you will become a better poker player and you will increase your bankroll. Yes you will get bad beats..there are donks like the one i used to be all over the internet. Yes you will get upset when you lose to a donk and wonder-was I ever like that? ....and the answer will probably be..yes.
Always remember, there will always be another game available where you will have a chance to beat that same donk..you will get your payback. Patience Patience and more Patience. If you dont have it..work on it.
In closing..I want to thank my professor immensely..without him, I would not be where i am today and growing as a poker player, Thanks again professor!!
