So you want a flat strategy?

Ok...fine, but first let me give you some thoughts about it.  Yes, it can help you win, but this will not give you a consistent winning tournament platform.  It can help you go deep into tournaments, but this is a jump off point.  Poker is a complex game and not everything works all the time.  If this is all you do, you will go further, win sometimes and possibly more than you do now; however, players will learn your "style" and will play into it.  If you raise they will fold.  If you limp, they will raise.  I believe the benefits of this set of playing 'rules' are that you will begin to see how others play, and how they play you, when this is all you do.  It will also help you learn the mentality of this "conservative style".  Playing this style in ring games is advantageous until your style is known by the table.  I use this style when I will 'hit and run' a table.

1.  From the first three seats after the blind.  Play only AA, KK, QQ with a 2.5 times the blind raise.  With AK, AQ, JJ raise to a 4 times the blind raise.  Throw everything else away.

2.  From the second set of three seats after the blind.  Raise to 3 times the blind with AA, KK, QQ, JJ, 1010, AK, AQ, AJ.  Throw everything else away.

3.  From the last two seats to the button.  Raise to 3 times the blind with AA down to 88 and with AK down to A8.  If the table checks to you, bet 2/3rds the pot ignoring what the flop and what your cards are.  If you are called and you are weak, it might be advantageous to not bet again, but sometimes, firing twice will win the pot when one bet wont do.

In all situations, if you are last to act and the table has checked to you, bet 2/3rds the pot ignoring what the flop and what your cards are.  If you are called and you are weak, do not bet again.  Evaluate the hand after the flop and don't be ashamed to throw away JJ or QQ when the flop has Aces or Kings on the board.  Be cautious of calling an all in with anything other than AA and KK.  Evaluate what you have seen the player push in with on other hands, then make a decision.  When you bet, bet at least 2/3rds the pot.  Do not be tempted to play any other hands, just because they are suited.

Good Luck!
