On a cold night in January 2009, a few friends were playing league poker at a bowling alley in Monument, Colorado, just north of Colorado Springs. Between tournaments of the WPTAPL games, five of us were passing the time playing fun card games which included Crazy Pineaple. As you probably know, Crazy Pineaple is where each player is dealt 3 cards and must discard one after the flop. This inspired David Carmi to create a new game whereby each player is dealt 6 cards and must muck a card with each betting round. We all know that with 6 cards in your hand, it's impossible to know how and when to fold. This delimma spawned a different method of betting. Players should play a certain dollar amount per hand, and then play the hand to the end. It can be treated like an ante, without betting after the buyin ante, and the best hand takes the pot. The strategy in this game is not when to fold, it's what to muck. You are literally canibalizing your hand as the community cards are being dealt. It's a great party game and the agony on each players face is evident as they struggle with which cards to fold. All players are in the hand all the time. You can be dealt a Full House or Royal Flush and it means nothing. The 5 card hand is made out of the last 2 cards you hold and the 5 community cards. Any 5 are fine. The maximum number of players is 7 at the table. 6 cards to 7 players is 42. 3 burn cards and 5 community cards gets you to 50. You will have only 2 cards left.
